Connecting with the Community: What to Expect from the Valley City App

The VCBC Development Corporation, Valley City Tourism, Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce, and City of Valley City are collaborating with Living Local, a division of the media solutions company called KAT & Company, to create a Valley City mobile phone application. The new app will create a free one-stop-shop for people in the community to get information that is currently scattered across multiple platforms.

The Living Local app will be customized to our community and provide a comprehensive overview of information on our schools/university, parks and recreation, events (utilizing the Valley City Calendar), job openings, community groups, businesses, churches, announcements, and much more. This application will serve as an information hub for everything Valley City, creating opportunities for community participation, informing residents of recreational options, and engaging visitors. It will connect community members to a wealth of information, along with each other through shared interests.

The development of this app is being provided at a reduced cost thanks to a partnership between the State of North Dakota and KAT & Company for communities with populations of 10,000 or less. The bulk of the cost is being funded through grants which were awarded through the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation’s innovative microgrant and the Visitor Committee’s tourism development grant; local match was provided by the VCBC Development Corporation, Valley City Tourism, and Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce.

Huge Crowd Gathered for Summer Nights on Central

The Valley City app is expected to launch in the Summer of 2024 and will be available to residents and visitors at no cost through Google Play and the Apple App Stores. A subsequent statement will be issued on the launch date to notify the community and provide instructions for accessing the app. We are excited to provide this valuable resource to Valley City and can’t wait to see what the app can do for our community!
