For the outdoor enthusiast, the Valley City area has a variety of adventures for any season. Winding its way through town, the easily accessible Sheyenne River is a North Dakota favorite for kayaking and fishing. Nearby Lake Ashtabula provides 26 miles of opportunities for camping, boating, water sports, dining as well as more trails for hiking and biking. South of town, grab some hot chocolate and hit the slopes skiing, snowboarding or tubing at Thrill Hills.

Take the family bowling at Sky Lanes, swimming at the indoor or outdoor pool with a 148-foot waterslide, golfing along the river or beside the historic Hi-Line Bridge; then head to a planetarium show, movie or take a relaxing ride on our brand-new trolley. The VCPS district consists of two elementary schools, Jefferson Elementary (K-3) and Washington Elementary (4-6) along with Valley City High School (7-12). With a nationally-recognized public school system that boasts a "small town feel with big city opportunities," students at VCPS thrive!

The SVACTC offers skilled trade elective high school courses which give students the opportunity to acquire valuable skills and explore various career opportunities. With students consistently winning awards and its unique array of classes, the SVACTC allows students to pursue their passions and gain skills to excel in the workforce!

VCSU offers over 65 degree programs ranging from nursing and education to athletic training and fisheries. With consistent record-breaking enrollment and over 20 years of recognition as a top university in the Midwest, VCSU can help you reach your education goals!
